(100% shiraz) Youthful violet color. Powerfully scented bouquet shows deep blackberry, cassis and mulberry qualities, along with exotic fruitcake and incense notes. Fleshy and sweet, with deep, supple dark berry preserve and candied licorice flavors, picking up smoky mineral and floral pastille tones with air. Extremely complex, and very young, with slow-mounting tannins adding grip to the long, sappy finish. This is really persistent, and admirably precise. Showing very nicely right now, but build for the cellar.Josh Raynolds1st September 2008

94-year-old dry-grown Shiraz vines. 90% new oak, 2/3 French and 1/3 US.
Spicy plum, moving towards red fruit, but also damson and a touch of cough linctus. You can see it is warmer than in the Grampians. Retrofitted Scott Henry trellis to give better sun exposure. Wonderfully aromatic. A little bit of mint? Concentrated without being in the least overweight. Fresh and juicy on the long finish. (JH)
