Henriet-Bazin is an independent champagne house based in the village of Villers Marmery in the Montagne de Reims. The boutique estate produces terroir-driven cuvées, which are aged for a minimum of three years on the lees. This non-vintage blanc de blancs is made with 100% Chardonnay, exclusively from premier cru plots. Expect a dry and crisp expression, with a linear acidity and vinous character.

The NV Brut Blanc de Blancs is a beautifully balanced, harmonious wine. There is just enough roundness and generosity to balance the focus of the Chardonnay in this accessible, harmonious Champagne. Hints of butter, smoke and spices wrap around the generous finish. This is Lot L1107221010. Disgorged October 2010. - Antonio Galloni

The Henriet-Bazin NV Brut Blanc de Blanc L36 smells of apple cider and lightly roasted peanut. Creamy and expansive on the palate, it mingles baked apple with almond cream, peanut butter, and piquant peach kernel that, along with alkaline and stony notes as well as suggestions of legume sprouts, serve for considerable counterpoint. There is a slight sense of opacity to the finishing flavors and the mousse here is a bit coarse; but this flavorful, distinctive cuvee is well worth employing at table over the coming year. - David Schildknecht
