Introduced in 1979, Hennessy Paradis takes its name from the Hennessy Founder`s Cellar, a repository exclusively housing the finest, rarest, and oldest eaux-de-vie. Crafted from a blend of 100 eaux-de-vie aged for up to 130 years, this cognac boasts remarkable depth and elegance. It is presented in an exquisite decanter designed by the Italian artist Ferruccio Laviani. This specific version represents an old-style presentation release that has been discontinued.

Like all Hennessy blends, the age is hard to pin down. I’m told by the brand ambassador that there are 100 eaux-de-vie in the blend, with “an average 25 to 100 years old.” In any case, it’s fresh and vibrant for its age, deep copper in color, featuring aromas of dried fruit, honey and candied citrus. In the mouth, it’s opulent, round and creamy, offering lots of warm citrus and ripe tropical fruit, and a touch of walnut and spice on the finish. It’s pleasant, no doubt, and it comes in a fancy bottle. But at the price, the liquid itself just doesn’t deliver value.Jason Wilson1st September 2019

Beyond Luxury

Founded by Irishman Richard Hennessy in the mid 1700s, Hennessy is today one of the world's largest producers of Cognac. Situated on the Charente river in South-West France, Hennessy source eaux-de-vie from four Cognac crus - Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne, Borderies and Fin Bois. The house has an extensive cask library, exceeding 300,000 barrels of maturing Cognac with some of which were originally filled in the 1800s.

Hennessy, is part of a stable of luxury brands in the 'Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy' group, with mergers taking place in 1971 and then again in 1987. Hennessy occupy an interesting sphere in the world of spirits - producing 'everyday' Cognacs such as Hennessy VS whilst also bottling some of the world's most expensive and desirable Cognac in the form of Hennessy Richard and Hennessy Timeless.
