Created in 1979, Hennessy Paradis is named after the Hennessy Founder’s Cellar, where only the finest, rarest and oldest eaux-de-vie are kept. This cognac is made from 100 eaux-de-vie that have been aged for up to 130 years, resulting in remarkable depth and elegance. It is presented in a stunning decanter by Italian designer Ferruccio Laviani.

The aroma is indulgent and profound, laden with hints of spice, newly bloomed flowers and blossoms. It carries undertones of mace and cinnamon, pepper, dried fruit peels, and a sweet trace of acacia honey, accented by a whisper of rancio. Upon tasting, a rich tapestry of flavors unfolds in a full and intricate palate, showcasing a dance between fresh flowers, spices, dried fruits, and candied peels. The experience culminates in a long, warming finish that leaves a very rounded and satisfying aftertaste.

Like all Hennessy blends, the age is hard to pin down. I’m told by the brand ambassador that there are 100 eaux-de-vie in the blend, with “an average 25 to 100 years old.” In any case, it’s fresh and vibrant for its age, deep copper in color, featuring aromas of dried fruit, honey and candied citrus. In the mouth, it’s opulent, round and creamy, offering lots of warm citrus and ripe tropical fruit, and a touch of walnut and spice on the finish. It’s pleasant, no doubt, and it comes in a fancy bottle. But at the price, the liquid itself just doesn’t deliver value. — Jason Wilson, 1st September 2019

The house has an extensive cask library, exceeding 300,000 barrels of maturing Cognac with some of which were originally filled in the 1800s.

Hennessy, is part of a stable of luxury brands in the 'Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy' group, with mergers taking place in 1971 and then again in 1987.
