Château Guiraud 1997 is a sweet white wine from the Sauternes appellation. Classified as a Premier Cru Classé in 1855, the Guiraud estate is situated on gravel and sandy-clay soils conducive to noble rot, and employs biodynamic practices to enhance terroir expression. The 1997 vintage benefited from a warm and humid growing season, allowing for optimal botrytis development. Fermented and matured in oak barrels, this wine presents aromas of apricot, orange marmalade and subtle spice. On the palate, it offers a complex interplay of rich sweetness and bright acidity.

Pale gold color. Exotic candied fruits, licorice, flowers and white tobacco on the nose, along with some resiny oak. Concentrated and firmly structured, with a strong sauvignon pungency. This has rather powerful acid spine. Finishes a bit tough but persistent.Stephen Tanzer1st July 2000
