An elegant blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Powerful yet displaying great lightness of touch, this 2014 Guado Al Tasso has vibrant aromas of plum, blackberry, mint, liquorice and cassis, leading to a silky-smooth palate of beautiful poise and precision. Antinori’s Guado al Tasso estate débuted with the 1990 vintage, and covers 1,000 hectares of land stretching from the hills around the village of Bolgheri down to the coast. The vineyard itself comprises 300 hectares, with the remainder planted to wheat, sunflowers and olives.

The 2014 Bolgheri Superiore Guado al Tasso has a level of aromatic intensity and breadth that is truly remarkable, especially for the year. Medium in body, gracious and lifted, the 2014 is pure class. Mocha, espresso, black cherry, leather and smoke are beautifully delineated in the glass. Medium in body and super-polished, the 2014 is without question one of the wines of the vintage on the Tuscan coast. I can't wait to see how it ages. This is impressive juice. Production is down by 40%. The 2014 Guado al Tasso is a rock star wine. I can't wait to see how it ages.Antonio Galloni1st April 2018

An Antinori Icon

While technically a wine rather than a winery, Marchesi Antinori's flagship red wine, Supertuscan Tignanello, has become an icon in its own right. Produced from the Tignanello estate, this wine is one of Italy’s most recognized and celebrated fine wines. Tignanello is a blend of mostly Sangiovese wines with lesser parts Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, showcasing the Antinori family's mastery in winemaking.

Situated in the heart of Chianti Classico, in the gently rolling hillsides between the Greve and Pesa river valleys, the Tenuta Tignanello vineyard produces these influential wines. Tignanello was the first Sangiovese to be aged in barriques, the first contemporary red wine blended with untraditional varieties (specifically Cabernet), and one of the first red wines in the Chianti Classico region not to use white grapes. This innovation has made it a modern red wine that stands out among its peers.

The Antinori estate also produces a superb Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon Grappa, a full-bodied Bordeaux-style red called Guado al Tasso, and delicate yet refined white wines from Castello della Sala, adding to its portfolio of iconic wines. The legacy of the Antinori family is evident in every bottle of these exceptional Italian wines.
