Founded in Beaune in 1880, Domaine Joseph Drouhin is one of Burgundy`s leading wine producers, with vineyard holdings in Chablis, the Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune and Côte Chalonnaise, as well as in Oregon, USA. Today, the estate is led by the 4th generation of the family and produces wines from nearly 90 different appellations. This is the domaine’s 2016 Griotte-Chambertin, from a small grand cru vineyard in Gevrey-Chambertin. Griotte-Chambertin is one of the more sought-after wines within the appellation, due to its fresher, more delicate style.

Vinous
The 2016 Griotte-Chambertin Grand Cru has a fruit-driven, slightly confit bouquet that feels later picked than its peers and without the same delineation and terroir expression. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, fleshy and high-toned with notes of fig and dates infusing the red fruit. Sweet with veins of marmalade towards the finish. Not bad, but I feel there is better to come. Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting. Neal Martin1st October 2019
