Originally founded in 1955, Claude Dugat is a boutique Domaine, which is widely considered one of the best producers in Gevrey-Chambertin. Claude Dugat is the cousin of another well-regarded Burgundy producer, Bernard Dugat, who owns Domaine Dugat-Py. This release hails from Griotte-Chambertin, a Grand Cru site located on the slopes below the famous Clos de Bèze and Chambertin vineyards. The 1997 vintage produced healthy and ripe red wines, with a soft structure.

Vinous
- Ruby-red. Superripe aromas of black raspberry liqueur, minerals and coffee syrup; fresher than the Dugat 1998 Charmes-Chambertin. Incredibly sweet and thick, but fruitier and more minerally than the Charmes. A low-acid confection of a wine, given shape by its tannic spine.
