Château-Grillet 2011 is a full-bodied, oak-aged white wine produced from 100% Viognier in the monopole of Château-Grillet in the northern Rhône valley. Château-Grillet is a celebrated white wine appellation in the northern Rhône. Neighbouring Condrieu, it produces ageworthy and highly sought-after wines exclusively from Viognier grapes. All the wines of the Château Grillet appellation are produced at the château itself. "The 2011 Château-Grillet offers lots of crushed rock-like minerality, buttered citrus, tangerine and a hint of honeysuckle on the nose. On the palate, it`s medium to full-bodied, has vibrant acidity, plenty of concentration and a great finish. It`s another wine that will easily continue drinking nicely through at least 2021." Vinous
Limpid gold. Vibrant, mineral-accented scents of Meyer lemon, pear skin and white flowers, with a floral nuance emerging with aeration. Juicy, sharply focused citrus and orchard fruit flavors show very good clarity and become deeper with air. The mineral and floral qualities come back steadily on the penetrating finish, which lingers with very good tenacity. I suspect that this deceptively concentrated wine will age relatively slowly thanks to its taut, racy character. Josh Raynolds1st March 2016
