The Louis Jadot Grands Échezeaux 2017 is a Pinot Noir sourced from the distinguished Grands Échezeaux climat, neighbouring Clos de Vougeot in the Côte de Nuits. The vineyard`s clay-limestone soils impart a complexity to the wine`s structure. This Grand Cru is one of 14 produced by Jadot, a maison renowned for its commitment to traditional Burgundian winemaking since 1859. The 2017 vintage benefits from a favourable growing season, resulting in concentrated red wines across the Côte d`Or. This Grand Cru offers a compelling profile that will develop further over time, rewarding patience well into the next decade.

From a parcel in Les Rouges du Bas, the 2017 Echézeaux Grand Cru offers up attractive aromas of smoky red fruits, spices, charcuterie and toasty new oak. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, firm and expansive, with a broad, open-knit profile. While the wine was quite structural when I tasted it, I suspect it will flesh out by the time it`s bottled. This is often one of the sleepers chez Jadot, so I look forward to revisiting it. - William Kelley
