Grands Échézeaux Domaine d`Eugénie 2010 is a Pinot Noir from the Grand Cru vineyard of Grands Échézeaux in Burgundy. Domaine d`Eugénie is a revered producer, celebrated for its meticulous winemaking and for its status as the former Domaine René Engel, bought by François Pinault. The domaine holds a small but prime parcel of old vines in the heart of the Grand Cru Grands Échézeaux. This 2010 bottling presents a complex bouquet of red cherry, dark forest fruits and earthy spice, with a subtle floral note. The palate is dense and powerful yet beautifully balanced, with a firm tannic structure and a long, savoury finish.

- (from a crop level under 25 hectoliters per hectare, according to winemaker Michel Mallard, who added that this holding is still missing about 20% of its vines from the Engel days): Good medium red, a bit less saturated than the Echezeaux. Highly perfumed aromas of plum, raspberry, dried rose, coffee and musky underbrush, complemented by sexy oak tones. Concentrated, sappy and smooth, with redcurrant, mineral, floral and spice flavors refined by burnished oak tones. Lovely energy and lift and fine tannins on the long aftertaste. Finer and more aromatic than the Echezeaux but not bigger.
