Glenmorangie 25 Year Old Malaga Wood Finish is a rare and opulent Highland single malt that underwent an extensive finishing period in sweet Malaga wine casks. This long-aged expression presents a deep copper colour and a luxurious bouquet of dried apricots, honeyed dates, and toasted almonds. The palate is exceptionally smooth and viscous, offering layers of dark chocolate, orange zest and sweet oak spices that have integrated over 25 years. As one of the most mature releases in the Glenmorangie portfolio, this whisky demonstrates the distillery`s expertise in wood management, using the luscious character of Malaga wine to enhance the delicate, floral spirit produced by their signature tall stills.

Pioneers of Wood Technology

Alcohol production has been recorded on the Morangie Farm, from which the distillery takes its name since the early 18th century. A brewery was known to exist on the site in the 1730 and Glenmorangie as we known it today was established in 1843, when William Matheson acquired the farm and installed a pair of second hand gin stills.

Today, Glenmorangie boast the tallest stills in Scotland, which contribute to the characteristic full, fruity character of the malt. The core range includes Glenmorangie Original, 18 and 25 year olds as well as a number of wood finished non-age-statement bottlings.

Long time distillery manager Dr Bill Lumsden, who also consults with Ardbeg, is well regarded in the industry, pioneering wood management techniques that have been widely adopted across Scotland.
