Glenlivet Private Collection G&M 1959 is a Speyside single malt matured for over 50 years in a refill Sherry cask. Distilled in the late 1950s, this expression from Gordon & MacPhail highlights the refined elegance of long-term oxidation and wood contact. The spirit delivers a sophisticated profile of beeswax, stewed plums and polished oak. At 47.5% ABV, it maintains a silken texture that carries notes of cinnamon, nutmeg and dark chocolate through to a lengthy finish. The use of refill wood allows the original distillery character to remain visible despite the extreme age. This release is part of a curated series designed to showcase the most exceptional casks held within the G&M warehouses.

A Classic Speyside

Glenlivet was the first Speyside in distillery to be granted a license after the passing of the excise act in 1823. Founded by George Smith, the distillery has become synonymous with a softer, gentler style of single malt and one of Scotland's best selling whiskies. Beyond the reliable core range that features a 12 year old, 15 year old, 18 year old and a number of non-age-statement cask finishes, Glenlivet is famous for the venerable old drams released under the "Cellar Collection" series.

The distillery was purchased by Pernod Ricard in 2001 and currently produces over 10 millions litres of new-make spirit a year. The team operate six stills and eight washbacks, installed as part of a renovation project that was completed in 2010.
