Distilled in 1951, this 44 Year Old Glenlivet from Gordon & MacPhail showcases the heritage of Speyside whisky-making during a pivotal era. Matured in Sherry wood, it captures the nuances of its prolonged cask aging, allowing a complex interplay of flavours to develop. Aromas of honeyed malt and dried stone fruits intermingle with soft wood smoke and beeswax, creating a refined profile that reflects its lengthy maturation. The Glenlivet distillery, established in 1824, is renowned for producing high-quality single malts, and this expression exemplifies the craftsmanship and dedication of independent bottlers. This release stands as a marker of both distillation history and the evolving character of whisky.

A Classic Speyside

Glenlivet was the first Speyside in distillery to be granted a license after the passing of the excise act in 1823. Founded by George Smith, the distillery has become synonymous with a softer, gentler style of single malt and one of Scotland's best selling whiskies. Beyond the reliable core range that features a 12 year old, 15 year old, 18 year old and a number of non-age-statement cask finishes, Glenlivet is famous for the venerable old drams released under the "Cellar Collection" series.

The distillery was purchased by Pernod Ricard in 2001 and currently produces over 10 millions litres of new-make spirit a year. The team operate six stills and eight washbacks, installed as part of a renovation project that was completed in 2010.
