The Glenlivet Cellar Collection 1959 is a limited-edition Speyside single malt, chosen by Master Distiller Jim Cryle and bottled in 2001. After its initial maturation, this 42.3% ABV whisky underwent a finishing period in American oak, with only 400 bottles produced, reflecting the distillery`s floral profile characteristic of the late 1950s. This vintage is part of the Cellar Collection, which aims to showcase Glenlivet`s rarest casks. The whisky features notes of citrus, honey, and subtle spice, enriched by a creamy vanilla influence from the oak. This expression represents a pivotal period in Glenlivet`s history, preceding the significant expansions of the 1960s and 1970s.

A Classic Speyside

Glenlivet was the first Speyside in distillery to be granted a license after the passing of the excise act in 1823. Founded by George Smith, the distillery has become synonymous with a softer, gentler style of single malt and one of Scotland's best selling whiskies. Beyond the reliable core range that features a 12 year old, 15 year old, 18 year old and a number of non-age-statement cask finishes, Glenlivet is famous for the venerable old drams released under the "Cellar Collection" series.

The distillery was purchased by Pernod Ricard in 2001 and currently produces over 10 millions litres of new-make spirit a year. The team operate six stills and eight washbacks, installed as part of a renovation project that was completed in 2010.
