Glenlivet 36 Year Old Sherry Butt #12 Signatory Vintage 1981 is a single malt Speyside whisky matured in a single first-fill Sherry cask. The long ageing period has imparted a deep amber colour and a rich profile of Christmas cake and dried spices to the smooth Glenlivet spirit. It was bottled at cask strength without chill-filtration to maintain the natural oils and the intensity of the wood influence. The palate shows a balance between the sweet dried fruit and the savoury oak tannins with a finish that is warm and persistent.

A Classic Speyside

Glenlivet was the first Speyside in distillery to be granted a license after the passing of the excise act in 1823. Founded by George Smith, the distillery has become synonymous with a softer, gentler style of single malt and one of Scotland's best selling whiskies. Beyond the reliable core range that features a 12 year old, 15 year old, 18 year old and a number of non-age-statement cask finishes, Glenlivet is famous for the venerable old drams released under the "Cellar Collection" series.

The distillery was purchased by Pernod Ricard in 2001 and currently produces over 10 millions litres of new-make spirit a year. The team operate six stills and eight washbacks, installed as part of a renovation project that was completed in 2010.
