Glenfarclas is one of the few independent distilleries left in Scotland and it is now in the hands of the fifth and sixth generation of the family. This particular release was distilled in 1977 and aged in a single oloroso-sherry hogshead for long 42 years. The result is an incredibly complex but smooth whisky, filled with notes of citrus fruit, dark chocolate, peach and hints of spice. Only 101 bottles were released.

A Family Owned Distillery

Glenfarclas is one of very few privately owned Scottish distilleries having been in the hands of the Grant family for six generations from the mid-1800s until the present day. Glenfarclas operate three wash stills and four spirit stills and take their water from springs around the nearby Ben Rinnes mountain.

The distillery have a focus on high quality, flavourful spirits matched with high quality ex-Sherry barrels from Jerez de la Frontera. The core range is impressively consistent featuring a 10 year old, 15 year old, 18 year and 21 year old. A limited edition 30 year old is released annual and special mention should go to 105 Caskk Strength - a superb non-age-statement cask strength single malt bottled at 57.5% ABV.
