The Historic Reserve N°2 from Glenfarclas was distilled on Christmas Day 1959 and bottled in June 2002, after spending 42 years in sherry hogsheads. The nose is highly aromatic, with citrus fruits, Indian spices, caramel, Christmas gingerbread, nuts, eucalyptus, toasted bread and an underlying honey-like sweetness. The palate is well-integrated, with pronounced flavours of oak, dark chocolate, more caramel, eucalyptus and a nutty aftertaste.

A Family Owned Distillery

Glenfarclas is one of very few privately owned Scottish distilleries having been in the hands of the Grant family for six generations from the mid-1800s until the present day. Glenfarclas operate three wash stills and four spirit stills and take their water from springs around the nearby Ben Rinnes mountain.

The distillery have a focus on high quality, flavourful spirits matched with high quality ex-Sherry barrels from Jerez de la Frontera. The core range is impressively consistent featuring a 10 year old, 15 year old, 18 year and 21 year old. A limited edition 30 year old is released annual and special mention should go to 105 Caskk Strength - a superb non-age-statement cask strength single malt bottled at 57.5% ABV.
