Château Giscours 2016 is a product of a historic estate established in 1552, with Grand Cru Classé recognition since 1855. This Margaux is characterised by its well-structured body and a complex array of bright aromas. The wine exhibits a powerful presence, underpinned by refined tannins that contribute to its overall depth. Each sip reveals layers reflective of the terroir, providing a glimpse into the long-standing tradition of winemaking at Giscours.
95 Vinous
The 2016 Giscours is built around 81% Cabernet Sauvignon. It has a wonderful bouquet with pure blackberry, crushed violet and mineral scents, with exquisite delineation and poise. The palate is framed by fine tannins and a perfect line of acidity. Slightly grainy in texture, it boasts gentle grip, yet there is real intensity and focus here. The 2016 is only just beginning to open and should be cellared for several years. Neal Martin2nd April 2025

Glowing purple. Concentrated and sappy – real energy here. Glossy and fresh. Really exuberant. Perhaps not one of the most earnestly fashioned for the very long term but a real crowd-pleaser. (JR)
