Géantet Pansiot is a family-owned domaine based in Gevrey-Chambertin, best known for its red Burgundy. The estate is currently led by Vincent Geantet who joined the business in 1977 before taking on complete control in 1989. Since 2006, Vincent has co-managed the estate with his son Fabien. This is their village-level Gevrey-Chambertin produced from very old vines. The 1996 vintage has a beautiful bouquet, combining dark berries, tea leaves and mineral notes. On the palate, dark and red berries mingle with forest floor, mushrooms and spices.

Excellent ruby-red. Precise, floral aromas of black cherry, animal fur, smoke and violet. Bright, very intensely flavored and closed in on itself today, with strong but harmonious acidity. Very primary dark berry flavors are complicated by a gamey nuance. Strong, firm tannins avoid hardness. Unevolved and in need of five or six years of aging. Superb village wine.Stephen Tanzer1st March 1999
