Gevrey-Chambertin Petite Chapelle Trapet 2005 is a Premier Cru wine from the renowned La Petite Chapelle vineyard in Gevrey-Chambertin. Established in the late 19th century, Domaine Trapet Père et Fils is known for practising organic viticulture. The 2005 growing season was warm, resulting in concentrated Pinot Noirs. This wine displays a profile of ripe red fruits, particularly raspberry and cherry, alongside earthy notes of truffle and spice. The palate is marked by fine tannins and vibrant acidity, indicative of its ageing potential.

The 2005 Gevrey-Chambertin La Petite Chapelle offers ripe black cherry with a pleasantly bitter note of cherry pit and hints of lily in the nose; a deep, clean, meaty richness on the palate, with a plush texture; and macaroon and vanilla suggestions from the toasting of its 50% new barrels seeming to slightly dominate the finish, which may however be suffering from the wine’s having just been bottled. Also recommended. 2005 Bourgogne Passetoutgrain , 2005 Bourgogne Aminima , 2005 Marsannay . - David Schildknecht

Good dark, bright red. Intriguing nose melds raspberry, rose petal, coffee, bitter chocolate and a whiff of hawthorn. Sweet and aromatic in the mouth, but at the same time juicy and quite firmly built, with a penetrating mineral character. This offers lovely delicacy along with considerable depth. Plenty of extract here but conveys a light touch. Structured and firm on the back.Stephen Tanzer1st March 2007
