Vinous
(from vines at the top of the hill; vinified with 50% whole clusters and aged in one-year-old barrels; 15 hectoliters per hectare produced, vs. 25 for the La Justice): Bright medium red. Reticent, musky nose offers scents of red berries, coffee and animal fur. At once sweet and brisk in the mouth, with a mineral component lifting the flavors of raspberry and rose petal. Tight, nicely delineated premier cru with a juicy, long, tactile finish leaving saline traces behind on the palate. There's barely six inches of soil here over rock, according to Vincent. A superb village wine in the making.Stephen Tanzer1st January 2015

Domaine de la Vougeraie

Top Flight Biodynamic Burgundy

Located between the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune in Prémeaux, Domaine de la Vougeraie was founded by Jean-Claude Boisset in 1999. The name was inspired by domaine’s significant vineyard holdings in the village of Vougeot, which is also Boisset’s home.

One of Burgundy’s leading domaines, Vougeraie owns about 40ha of vineyard in more than 30 different appellations of Burgundy, including the Grands Crus of Clos Vougeot, Musigny, Bonnes-Mares, Charmes Chambertin, Mazoyères, Corton Clos du Roi and Corton Charlemagne. The domaine vineyards have been managed biodynamically since 2001. The highest possible production values and strictest levels of quality control, including a state-of-the-art sorting table, are maintained for the domaine’s entire range of wines. The domaine’s general manager, Sylvie Poillot, has managed the winemaking team since Pierre Vincent departed for Domaine Leflaive.
