Situated in Nuits-Saint-Georges, Domaine Faiveley is a leading wine producer in Burgundy. The estate was founded in 1825 by Pierre Faiveley and it is now in the hands of Erwan and Eve, the seventh generation of one of the largest landowners in the region. This release is the 2020 vintage of the cuvée Les Cazetiers, which is considered to be one of the best premier crus in Gevrey. It’s a remarkably powerful wine, offering a silky mouthfeel and exceptional length.

The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cazetiers 1er Cru doesn't have quite the delineation of Bruno Clair's Cazetiers, maybe a touch of Brettanomyces. It's a little sweaty, which is a pity because there's some lovely fruit here. (I pour it into another glass, and there is some improvement). The palate is rounded with low acidity, relatively flat, and lacking vigor. Not sure how representative this is. There's a great wine here, but this is not a great bottle. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting. Neal Martin30th October 2024
