Joseph Roty Gevrey-Chambertin 2022 is a red wine from the Côte de Nuits in Burgundy. This 2022 release shows a concentrated profile of black fruit and liquorice. It was fermented at higher temperatures and aged in a significant proportion of new oak which has added weight and structure to the palate. The wine possesses a firm tannic grip and a savoury finish that will require time to soften.

The 2022 Gevrey-Chambertin Village offers up attractive aromas of raspberries, cherries and licorice, followed by a medium-bodied succulent and fine-boned palate. This is quite suave and put-together out of the gates, so it should offer a broad drinking window.

The 2021 Gevrey-Chambertin Village comes from the usual array of parcels but is augmented by the inclusion of La Justice from this vintage. The refined bouquet is very pure with red cherries, crushed strawberries, and crushed stone - aromatics with a spring in their step. The medium-bodied palate has fine-boned tannins. It grows a little chalky towards the finish but fresh and minerally, almost terse in some ways. I admire its focus, and it should drink well over the next 8 to 10 years. - Neil Martin
