Founded in Beaune in 1880, Domaine Joseph Drouhin is one of Burgundy`s leading wine producers, with vineyard holdings in Chablis, the Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune and Côte Chalonnaise, as well as in Oregon, USA. Today, the estate is led by the 4th generation of the family and produces wines from nearly 90 different appellations. The domaine’s 2014 Gevrey-Chambertin offers enticing scents of red berries, cherries, subtle hints of vanilla, and a touch of liquorice. On the palate, expect notes of slightly underripe cherries, pomegranate, graphite, delicate rose petals, and dried herbs. This wine can be enjoyed now or cellared for the future.

(from purchased grapes, including 30% from premier cru vineyards): Good medium red. Cool, distinctly dark aromas of black cherry, menthol, licorice and mint. Juicy on entry, then rather tight in the middle, in need of time in bottle to expand. Finishes firm and ripely tannic, with good length and lift. Stephen Tanzer1st March 2017

The 2014 Gevrey Chambertin Villages is fully de stemmed. Deeper in color than the Vosne-Romanée, it has a pleasant nose of black cherry and briary fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin with sappy red fruit and a pleasant saline finish. Neal Martin31st December 2015
