Located in Gevrey-Chambertin, the Denis Mortet estate is a family-owned Burgundy producer currently overseen by Laurence Mortet and her two children, Clémence and Arnaud. The domaine was initially established in 1956 by Charles Mortet, starting with only one hectare of vineyards. This 2010 Gevrey-Chambertin represents a highly commendable village wine that has now reached a mature stage. Expect an array of red fruit aromas and flavours, such as raspberry, cherry, and redcurrant, accompanied by a touch of richness.

Vinous
Medium red. Wild, expressive aromas of raspberry, strawberry, smoke and underbrush. Sweet, supple and rich but youthfully backward. Builds impressively toward the back end, showing strong saline minerality and a serious acid/tannin spine. This shows more focus in bottle than it did from barrel a year ago. I'd give it a couple years in the cellar before pulling the cork.Stephen Tanzer1st March 2013
