Founded in 1859, Louis Jadot is undoubtedly one of the most consistent growers and négociant houses in Burgundy. The Maison which is headquartered in Beaune offers a vast portfolio of wines – from easy-drinking, accessible Bourgogne to complex, age-worthy Grand Crus. This particular release comes from the Premier Cru Clos Saint-Jacques, where the Jadot owns a tiny 1-hectare plot. The 1996 vintage is at its peak now, exuding sous bois complexity and plenty of supple fruit balancing the structure.

Very saturated red-ruby. Bright, sweet black raspberry and cassis nose. Very sweet and intensely flavored, but bracing acidity gives the wine great dynamism and cut. Really explosive in the mouth. Very long, vibrant finish. Grand cru quality.Stephen Tanzer1st March 1998

Louis Jadot was established in Beaune by Louis Henry Denis in 1859. Over the last 165 years the company maintained exceptional quality of its wines through the steady acquisition of the best vineyards in Burgundy and now produce wines from over 150 appellations.

Jadot owns almost 125ha of vineyards in the Côte d’Or and more than 298 vineyard parcels sites including 14 Grand Cru and 74 Premier Cru. Within the last decade Domaine Louis Jadot vineyards around Beaune have been managed following organic principles and are in the process of organic certification for the 2024 vintage.
