Gevrey-Chambertin Clos St Jacques Domaine Fourrier 2022 originates from a renowned vineyard in the Côte de Nuits, specifically noted for its unique terroir. The 2022 vintage reflects the site’s characteristic cool air, which facilitates a balanced profile, even in warmer seasons. This wine displays a notable interplay between richness and minerality, creating a structure that is both elaborate and refined. Aromatic complexity is evident, featuring red fruits with subtle earthy undertones. Domaine Fourrier is recognised as one of Burgundy`s most celebrated domaines.
Vinous
The 2022 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos Saint-Jacques 1er Cru has a very classy bouquet, as you would expect from this propitious vineyard, though it is understated at first pour, biding its time. It is the most marine-influenced of the Premier Crus, oyster shells infusing the red berry fruit. The medium-bodied palate has finely chiseled tannins, very poised and mineral-driven, pixelated on the long lingering finish. A Clos Saint-Jacques from the very top drawer.

Poise and Balance

Jean-Marie Fourrier has been at the helm of his family domaine since the mid 1990s and has steadily risen to become one of Gevrey-Chambertin's most important vignerons. Having served an apprentice under the famous Henri Jayer before a brief stint at Domaine Drouhin in Oregon, Jean-Marie returned to France with a clear vision to raise to improve the quality of his wines to be the equal of any in the Côte de Nuits.

Grapes are destemmed after picking and fermentation is kept on the cooler side. A 36 - 48 hour maceration precedes the fermentation, punching down is manual and malolactic fermentation is restricted through temperature control. These are superbly elegant wines which push their ethereal fruit character to the fore.
