Founded at the start of the 20th century, Armand Rousseau is a leading Burgundy producer, currently managed by Eric Rousseau with the assistance of his daughter Cyriell. The Domaine is based in Gevrey-Chambertin and consists of approximately 15 hectares, over half of which is situated in Grand Cru sites. This particular release is from the Premier Cru Clos Saint-Jacques, where Rousseau owns a 2.2-hectare plot. While not as universally acclaimed as some other recent vintages like 2015 or 2016, the 2019 Burgundy wines are expected to age well.

Sometimes the stars simply align. That is certainly the case at Rousseau in 2019, a truly extraordinary vintage at one of the world’s most iconic estates. The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos St. Jacques 1er Cru is captivating right out of the glass. Soaring aromatics, deep layers of cool, blue-toned fruits and the silkiest of tannins captivate all the senses, from the intellectual to the hedonistic. What a total turn-on.
