Gevrey-Chambertin Armand Rousseau 2005 is a compelling representation of this illustrious Burgundy commune. This Pinot Noir is sourced from meticulously cared-for vineyards. The wine displays notable aromas of dark fruit, floral notes and earthiness. On the palate, one can expect complex layers of black cherry, subtle spices and hints of minerality. Armand Rousseau, established in 1909, is recognised for its commitment to terroir and traditional winemaking practices. The winery’s approach includes careful selection of fruit and minimal intervention, ensuring the unique characteristics of the vintage are preserved.

The 2005 Gevrey-Chambertin captures the richness of the year in its pliant, open personality. Wonderfully dense and expressive, especially for a village-level wine, the 2005 is drinking beautifully today. Worn-in leather, spices, tobacco and dried dark cherries meld into the succulent, expressive finish. This is a terrific village-level offering from Rousseau. Antonio Galloni1st June 2016
