Georg Breuer Terra Montosa Riesling 2022 is a medium-bodied, dry white wine from the Rheingau region of Germany. Weingut Georg Breuer is an award-winning wine estate currently run by Theresa Breuer. The winery`s Terra Montosa cuvée is a blend of Riesling grapes selected from younger vines and was originally intended as a second wine to Teresa`s Grand Cru offering. Precise and linear, this wine offers mouthwatering flavours of ripe peach, nashi pear and lime.

The 2022 Terra Montosa comes from the five grand crus of the Rüdesheimer Berg and is assembled from the stücks and halbstücks that weren`t selected for the single-vineyard wines. The wine is deep, pure and refined on the flinty and aromatic nose. Intense and textural on the palate, with fine phenolic grip and mineral acidity, this is a well-balanced and sustainably saline Rüdesheimer with a savory, intense, aromatic, refined and juicy finish. Excellent. The different parts were assembled in July after 10 months on the full lees. 11.5% stated alcohol. Diam cork. Tasted at the domaine in September 2023. - Stephan Reinhardt

The 2022 Riesling Terra Montosa is a key wine for the estate, first made in 1990 by Georg Breuer as a “second wine” uniting all the steep sites of the estate, i.e., Rüdesheimer Berg Rottland, Berg Roseneck and Berg Schlossberg, Rauenthaler Nonnenberg and Lorcher Pfaffenwies. Terra Montosa is what is left over after the single-site wines have been blended and thus represents excellent value. It was fermented in used Stück and Halbstück. There's a touch of creamy apricot and the ripe, juicy flesh of yellow pear, a certain tenderness, intensity and shine on the nose. This carries right onto the palate where slightly astringent, lemony freshness and pith appear on this light-footed, elegant yet intense wine. This is countered by yeasty, very slightly nutty creaminess from wood fermentation. Linearity, concentration and again, a kind of naked, unadorned, unfrilly straightness characterizes the wine that comes across as honest and clean. The finish has a suspicion of yeasty richness among the slender, restrained expression of 2022. (Bone-dry)
