Domaine Trimbach Geisberg Riesling 2018 is a full-bodied, off-dry white wine from the Grand Cru of Geisberg in the Alsace region of France. Located in the village of Ribeauvillé, Trimbach is one of the most historic winemaking families in Alsace. The estate is now run by the 12th generation of the family, Pierre and Jean. Trimbach is renowned for its restrained, energetic style of Alsatian white wine. In particular the family`s Rieslings possess a laser-like acidity and restrained complexity which may only be revealed slowly over many years of bottle age. "Pure, fresh and precisely representative of the Geisberg terroir with stony and saline notes. On the palate, this is an opulent, dense and baroque-styled Riesling with power, sweetness (just 3.9 grams per litre) and a firm and concentrated finish. This is another wine that needs some years to relax and breathe." Robert Parker, 2022

The generous and herbal nose of the 2018 Riesling Grand Cru Geisberg is very clear, intense, concentrated and saline. On the palate, this is a rich and powerful, fleshy and almost viscous Geisberg, with fine tannins and rather smooth acidity and 14.5% stated alcohol. It`s naturally long and powerful and accessible earlier than the 2019. Tasted at the domaine in April 2024 and again on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Clos Ste Hune at the beginning of November, with the same result, but this note.

The 2018 Geisberg Riesling is deep, very intense and aromatic on the nose that represents the very dry and warm vintage. Full-bodied, rich and very powerful on the palate, this is a massive and muscular, luckily also saline-finishing Riesling that is still a bit edgy and will still need years to refine and gain in finesse. It is doubtlessly a complex and potential wine. - - Stephan Reinhardt

On limestone.Dancing, lively citrus nose. Really rich and gloriously rewarding already. Opulent nose and – just – not oily. Acidity is not the prominent characteristic here, although there is enough of it. (JR)
