Château Gazin 1998 is a Right Bank Bordeaux blend from Pomerol, constructed primarily from Merlot and Cabernet Franc, reflecting the unique character of its clay and gravel soils. The estate, established in the 18th century and comprising approximately 26 hectares, combines tradition with modern winemaking techniques. The 1998 vintage benefited from a warm growing season, resulting in moderate yields. Aromas of dark fruit, plums, and hints of chocolate are complemented by earthy undertones and subtle oak influence from barrel ageing. Tannins exhibit a firm structure, while acidity provides balance. Serving this wine at optimal maturity allows for a more integrated profile, showcasing the complexity derived from its meticulous vinification process and the historical context of the estate.
90 Robert Parker
A dense ruby/purple color is followed by aromas of charred wood, coffee, blackberry and cherry fruit, and new saddle leather. Full-bodied, dense, chewy, and intense, this muscular as well as backward vin de garde requires cellaring. Anticipated maturity. 2005-2020.

89 Vinous
Deep full red. Snappy aromas of cherry liqueur, blackberry, minerals, licorice and charry, spicy oak. Concentrated, vinous and deep; dense and structured. Finishes with big, ripe tannins and lingering, sweet fruit. Appears to have benefitted from a gentle bottling.
