La Madone Fleurie Vieilles Vignes 2023 is a medium-bodied red wine produced from Gamay grapes in the Beaujolais region of France. Run by Jean-Marc and Arnaud Després, Domaine de la Madone is situated along the hillside of La Madone in the Beaujolais cru village of Fleurie, just above and below the chapel de la Madone, which was constructed in 1870. This old-vine cuvée is produced from Gamay vines aged between 70 and 100 years old, giving a marvellously concentrated wine with excellent purity of fruit, soft spices and fine minerality.

The 2023 Fleurie Madone Vieilles Vignes presents an exuberant nose of violet petals, blueberry, cherry, licorice and spice. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied, with a supple fruit core guided by powdery, well-integrated tannins that lend a sense of refinement. Its upward trajectory unfolds effortlessly with a free-flowing sophistication. This is a quintessential expression of Fleurie, executed with precision and elegance. Again, store it away for a few years, or open a few hours in advance. - Kenna Wells

The 2023 Fleurie Vieilles Vignes Madone has a candied red cherry-tinged nose. It`s simple yet not unattractive. The palate is ripe and fleshy with saturated tannins and good intensity, but it is not a medium- or long-term Fleurie.
