Finisterre Chardonnay Robert Oatley 2023 is a dry white wine from Margaret River, specifically sourced from the cooler precincts near Karridale. This vintage is crafted employing wild fermentation, followed by maturation in French oak barrels, featuring around 30-40% new wood. The wine displays aromas of white peach, lemon zest and a distinct mineral quality reminiscent of flint. On the palate, it presents a creamy texture, complemented by bright acidity and a nuanced saline character.

Full bottle 1,453 g. Screwcap. Hand-picked. Whole-bunch pressed into new, one- and two-year-old French oak barriques. Spontaneous fermentation and aged for 10 months.
Supple, ample, rich and deceptively full-bodied – I couldn’t believe this was just 12.5% alcohol. Creamy rather than oaky, just a feather-brush of spices. Lemon curd, more than a hint of passion fruit, shining intensity on the mid palate combined with acidity that feels like a trail of lime-sherbet fizzling energy from tip to toe. Really beautifully balanced – somehow manages to be both fulsome and racy. (TC)
