Château Figeac was the only estate to be upgraded to Premier Grand Cru Classé A in the 2022 classification of Saint-Émilion. Owned by the Manoncourt family since 1892, this fine estate traces its history back to the Roman era. Today, the property spans approximately 40 hectares of vineyards, with the majority of the grapes going into the celebrated Grand Vin, a classic style of Saint-Émilion with wonderful texture and tannic power. The 2015 vintage is a blend of 43% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot, and 28% Cabernet Franc. The nose evokes spiced plum jam, blackcurrants, hints of redcurrants, cacao nibs and violets. With a medium to full-bodied profile, the palate is rich, showcasing impeccably ripe, fine-grained tannins and freshness, culminating in a fragrant long finish.

Love this vintage of Figeac, and it is fully delivering at the ten year point, still teetering on the edge of its mature drinking window. Brambled fleshy black fruits, firm tannins, edge of cocoa, incense, steel and mandarin peel, grip and length. Great quality. Harvest September 21 to October 15, 100% new oak for ageing. The 2015 Figeac has an opulent, peppermint-infused bouquet with pure black fruit, violet and eucalyptus scents emerging with time. The oak is nicely integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with silky tannins. This is not a powerful Right Bank, yet it's pixelated and precise. The spine of acidity is well judged, gently fanning out on the saline- and licorice-tinged finish. The 2015 is excellent. Tasted blind at the 2015 Bordeaux Ten-Year-On tasting at Farr Vintners. Château Figeac is one of the finest producers in Saint-Émilion and is just one of fourteen properties classified as Premier Grand Cru Classé (B) in 2012, putting it firmly in the highest echelons of the region.

Owned by the Manoncourt family since 1892, the history of this superb estate can be traced back to the Roman era and today spans 40ha. The majority of the grapes produced go into producing the celebrated first wine of the estate, Château Figeac, a classic style of Saint-Émilion with wonderful texture and tannic power. A small amount of the second wine, Le Petit Figeac is also produced.
