The 1985 Figeac ought to be one of the decade"s great wines à la Cheval Blanc; however, several bottles have never convinced me that this is a top-grade Figeac. The bouquet is fully mature with remnants of red fruit, garrigues, decaying brown leaves and bay. The palate is well balanced and autumnal, elegant with a slight meatiness towards the finish that shows just a little dryness. I would drink all bottles in the not-too-distant future. An Elegant Right Bank Estate

Château Figeac is one of the finest producers in Saint-Émilion and is just one of fourteen properties classified as Premier Grand Cru Classé (B) in 2012, putting it firmly in the highest echelons of the region.

Owned by the Manoncourt family since 1892, the history of this superb estate can be traced back to the Roman era and today spans 40ha. The majority of the grapes produced go into producing the celebrated first wine of the estate, Château Figeac, a classic style of Saint-Émilion with wonderful texture and tannic power. A small amount of the second wine, Le Petit Figeac is also produced.
