Château Figeac 2016 is a Right Bank Bordeaux from the Saint-Émilion appellation. A blend of 35% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Franc and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, this vintage underwent meticulous sorting and fermentation, with the use of new oak barrels from multiple coopers. Figeac is renowned for its emphasis on finesse and elegance, laying emphasis on the vineyard’s gravel and clay soils, which impart a subtle complexity to the wine.

This continues a superb run for this estate, cocoa bean, creamy blackberry and damson, a ton of spiced rosemary, cedar, incense, cocoa bean espresso, cracked pepper, muscular tannins at the decade mark. Confidently judged and hard to argue with, a fabulous 2016 from St Emilion. 100% new oak for ageing.Jane Anson4th February 2026

The 2016 Figeac has a comparatively extravagant nose with vivid red cherries, strawberry, blood orange and light rosemary scents, very Saint-Émilion in style. Wonderful delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain, supple tannins. This is framed by a keen line of acidity, closing in towards the concentrated and peppery finish. Long-term. Tasted blind at the Southwold 10-Year-On tasting. Neal Martin16th April 2026

Tasted blind. Very deep crimson. Quite sweet, rich and charred. Rather glorious, luxurious fruit in beautiful harmony. Ch Cheval Blanc? Super-appetising even if not big. Dry finish. Subtle. (JR)Jancis Robinson31st May 2022
