Etna Bianco Pietra Marina Benanti 2019 showcases the unique terroir of Sicily`s Mount Etna. Crafted predominantly from the Carricante grape on the volcanic slopes of Mount Etna in Sicily. The vineyard is over the sea at an altitude of 800m on sandy volcanic soil. The vines are up to 90 years old and are planted at a high density of up to 9,000 plants per hectare. The wine is naturally fermented and then aged on fine lees for 24 months with periodic bâtonnage before being bottled. The wine is refined in bottle for 12 months. Intense, rich and complex, with hints of citrus, ripe apple and orange blossom, alongside anise and Etna’s signature minerality.
Benanti, one of Etna’s pioneering producers, has been cultivating vines since the late 1800s, focusing on indigenous varietals and harmonising traditional techniques with modern philosophy.
