Las Pizarras is made from Chardonnay grown on slate soils from a cool, coastal part of the Aconcagua Valley. It is wild-fermented in oak barrels before partial malolactic fermentation and maturation in barrique for 14 months. It is a precise and focussed wine with exceptionally complex flavours of stone fruits, citrus, nuts and spices, with a distinctive saline note.
93 Vinous
The fourth vintage of this Chardonnay from Aconcagua planted in slate soil. Fermented in whole bunches, it spent 10 months in 15% new French oak while 35% is malo-lactic aged. Like its previous incarnations, this is an austere wine although there are now herbal aromas to the nose along with a complex mix of grass, hay, lime, wood, hazelnut and linden blossom. The acidity is cleaver-sharp only slightly leavened by the terse wooden texture. Needs time in the bottle.Joaquin Hidalgo1st March 2020

Nose is much fruitier than the 2016. And then the grip of the schist makes its presence felt. A definite step up on the 2016, I think. But very linear and demanding on the finish still. (JR)
