M Chapoutier L`Ermite Ermitage Blanc 2006 is a full-bodied single-site white wine produced from 100% Marsanne on the celebrated hill of Hermitage in the northern Rhône valley. The 2006 vintage of this flagship Chapoutier Hermitage Blanc received a perfect 100-point score from Wine Advocate. The wine is aged in 100% new oak. "The 2006 Ermitage l`Ermite Blanc is unquestionably one of the greatest white wines in the world today. Full-bodied, seamless, silky and yet hugely concentrated, with to-die-for notes of praline, caramelized fruits, liquid rock, toasted almonds and celery seed, it’s the quintessential Hermitage Blanc possessing an incredible amount of fruit and texture paired with elegance, purity and finesse." Yellow-gold. Wonderfully complex bouquet of spicy citrus, pear and melon complicated by dusty minerals, smoky lees and fresh rose. Fleshy but focused on the palate, offering spicy orchard fruit flavors, lemon pith and sweet tangerine on the finish. Gained weight with air without any loss of energy or clarity, picking up exotic spice and licorice flavors with air. There are only 228 cases of this juice.Josh Raynolds1st January 2008

Passion and Drive

One of the oldest producers in the Rhône Valley, M. Chapoutier was established in 1808. The arrival of a young Michel Chapoutier, who took over management of the family domaine in 1990, saw huge changes and a renewed drive for excellence, focussing especially on the diverse terroir of the Rhône. Michel has embraced biodynamic practices in recent years and attributes much of the increase in quality to this approach. The wines are generous and fruit-forward at the entry level, moving towards the sublime as we move up the quality ladder.

Two of the greatest wines in the portfolio are 'De L'Orée', an Hermitage Blanc made from 100% Marsanne and 'Le Pavillon', a full-bodied, expressive Hermitage rouge that effortlessly rubs shoulders with the world's greatest Syrah.
