Eric Rodez Empreinte Noire 2013 presents a focused expression of Champagne with its pure 100% Pinot Noir composition. Sourced from the acclaimed Grand Cru village of Ambonnay, this wine reflects the unique terroir through vineyards nurtured under organic and biodynamic practices. Vinified in oak barrels, it avoids malolactic fermentation to retain freshness, while a low dosage of 1.5g/l maintains its clarity. Eric Rodez, a pioneer in sustainable viticulture since 1984, has long influenced a new generation of Champagne producers, marking his wines as distinctive in character.

Bold, Expressive Champagnes

Based in the renowned Grand Cru village of Ambonnay in the Montagne de Reims, Eric Rodez is a leading producer of fine Champagnes. With a Champagne-making history stretching back many generations, the domaine is now run by Eric, his wife Martine and his son, Mickaël (the ninth generation of the winemaking family).

Eric Rodez owns 9ha of Pinot Noir vines and 7ha of Chardonnay along the south and southeast-facing slopes of Ambonnay. The vineyards are farmed biodynamically while, in the cellar, about 70% of Rodez Champagne is fermented and aged in oak.

The character of Rodez Champagnes is heavily defined by the judicious blending of reserve wines with the new-vintage wine, with Eric using up to 10 different vintages in his final cuvées – his experience in the cellar at Champagne Krug surely a factor there. Whatever the particular cuvée, Rodez Champagnes are consistently elegant, vinous yet deliciously complex.
