The Eric Rodez Blanc de Noirs Edition 35 NV is crafted from 100% Pinot Noir, showcasing a blend derived from specific vintages. 2018 (26%), 2017 (24%) and 2016 (22%), alongside 28% reserve wines. Vinified primarily in oak barrels (90%), with a small portion fermented in tanks, this Champagne exhibits notable complexity. With malolactic fermentation applied to just 10%, the wine maintains a distinct character, while a low dosage of 2.0g/l lends a focus to its expression. Eric Rodez is a pioneer in organic and biodynamic viticulture in Ambonnay, employing aromatherapy across his vineyards in order to enhance the health of his vines.

The NV Extra Brut Blanc de Noirs is a pure Pinot Noir made mostly from oak-vinified base wines without malolactic fermentation. Supple smoke surrounds the tender, juicy flesh of red apple on the nose. A beautifully sleek palate walks the tightrope between opulence and tautness with aplomb. There is just a touch of butteriness, but it flows in a world of smooth, cool freshness. The body of Pinot Noir is evident but comes with a sleek silhouette. This strikes a lovely balance between fruit, body and freshness on its solid frame and rewards with lasting elegance. Dosage is 2+ grams per liter. (Lot 01/2024) Antonio Galloni30th December 2025

Disgorged in April 2020 with four grams per liter dosage, the latest release of Rodez` NV Brut Blanc de Noirs is already quite expressive, offering up aromas of mirabelle plum, raspberries, toasted almonds, honeycomb and white flowers. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and gourmand, with ripe but racy acids and an enveloping core of fruit that`s complemented by a pillowy mousse, it`s extroverted but precise. What`s more, it will be even better with a year or two on cork. - William Kelley

Bold, Expressive Champagnes

Based in the renowned Grand Cru village of Ambonnay in the Montagne de Reims, Eric Rodez is a leading producer of fine Champagnes. With a Champagne-making history stretching back many generations, the domaine is now run by Eric, his wife Martine and his son, Mickaël (the ninth generation of the winemaking family).

Eric Rodez owns 9ha of Pinot Noir vines and 7ha of Chardonnay along the south and southeast-facing slopes of Ambonnay. The vineyards are farmed biodynamically while, in the cellar, about 70% of Rodez Champagne is fermented and aged in oak.

The character of Rodez Champagnes is heavily defined by the judicious blending of reserve wines with the new-vintage wine, with Eric using up to 10 different vintages in his final cuvées – his experience in the cellar at Champagne Krug surely a factor there. Whatever the particular cuvée, Rodez Champagnes are consistently elegant, vinous yet deliciously complex.
