Eric Rodez Blanc de Noirs Edition 34 NV is a highly vinous and textural expression of 100% Pinot Noir from the Grand Cru village of Ambonnay. This specific edition is a multi-vintage blend based on 2017, 2016 and 2015, with 17% reserve wines, and showcases the power and structure inherent to the Pinot Noir of the Montagne de Reims. The wine is intensely aromatic with notes of bruised red berries, candied citrus peel, hazelnut and a distinct chalky minerality. Vinified with 90% in oak barrels and minimal dosage, the palate is powerful, muscular and impeccably balanced by its vibrant acidity and long, savoury finish.

Disgorged in April 2020 with four grams per liter dosage, the latest release of Rodez` NV Brut Blanc de Noirs is already quite expressive, offering up aromas of mirabelle plum, raspberries, toasted almonds, honeycomb and white flowers. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and gourmand, with ripe but racy acids and an enveloping core of fruit that`s complemented by a pillowy mousse, it`s extroverted but precise. What`s more, it will be even better with a year or two on cork. - William Kelley

Bold, Expressive Champagnes

Based in the renowned Grand Cru village of Ambonnay in the Montagne de Reims, Eric Rodez is a leading producer of fine Champagnes. With a Champagne-making history stretching back many generations, the domaine is now run by Eric, his wife Martine and his son, Mickaël (the ninth generation of the winemaking family).

Eric Rodez owns 9ha of Pinot Noir vines and 7ha of Chardonnay along the south and southeast-facing slopes of Ambonnay. The vineyards are farmed biodynamically while, in the cellar, about 70% of Rodez Champagne is fermented and aged in oak.

The character of Rodez Champagnes is heavily defined by the judicious blending of reserve wines with the new-vintage wine, with Eric using up to 10 different vintages in his final cuvées – his experience in the cellar at Champagne Krug surely a factor there. Whatever the particular cuvée, Rodez Champagnes are consistently elegant, vinous yet deliciously complex.
