Formerly known as the Araujo Estate, the Eisele Vineyard is potentially one of the greatest terroirs in California and is now owned by François Pinault of Château Latour in Bordeaux. It is well known for producing Cabernet Sauvignon-based wines of immense complexity, concentration and weight yet ethereal levity, silken texture and impressive longevity.

Eisele Vineyard's 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon is without question one of the wines of the vintage. Majestic and soaring in the glass, the 2015 is absolutely stunning from the very first taste. A rush of dark fruit, graphite, grilled herb, smoke, leather, earthiness and exotic spices makes a bold opening statement, but it is the wine's breath, volume and sheer intensity that are all off the charts. I tasted the 2015 blind in a flight of wines from Calistoga's Pickett Road neighborhood. All of the wines were terrific, but the wine that was most moving and most profound was unquestionably the 2015 from Eisele Vineyard. Antonio Galloni1st December 2018

The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon has a touch of Cabernet Franc in the blend, as no Merlot is generally used in the Eisele Vineyard blend. A spectacular nose of blueberry and blackberry fruit intermixed with violets, licorice and smoldering embers from a wood fire are present in this full-bodied, multidimensional wine of great purity. The wine has a seamless integration of acidity, tannin, wood and alcohol. This has all the earmarks of a potentially perfect wine once it is in bottle. It should also be a wine that will be approachable young, but certainly last for 25-30+ years.Robert Parker28th October 2016
