Egon Müller Wiltinger Braune Kupp Riesling Spätlese 2015 is a late-harvest Riesling from the Wiltinger Braune Kupp vineyard in the Saar valley. This vintage benefits from the exceptional conditions of 2015, yielding grapes showcasing both ripeness and vibrancy. With an alcohol content of 9%, the wine reveals a profile accentuated by notes of green apple, lime and white peach intertwined with pronounced smoky minerality. Distinguished by its steep slate slopes, the Braune Kupp site is celebrated for imparting a unique weight and texture to its Rieslings, resulting in a Spätlese with impressive concentration and longevity.

The 2015 Wiltinger Braune Kupp Riesling Spätlese #5 is super clear, precise and aromatic-piquant on the nose, with highly fine stone fruit flavors and a cool-like, flinty earth aroma. Round, lush and piquant on the palate, with a perfectly ripe but fresh fruit, this is a dense, complex and persistently structured Spätlese. Salty-mineral and perfectly balanced, this has great elegance and expression.

Egon Muller

King of the Mosel Valley

Broadly considered to make some of the greatest Rieslings in the world, the Egon Müller winery has been in the same family since 1797. Farming on the steep slopes of the Mosel valley, the estate owns around one third of the famous Scharzofberg vineyard, one of the region's greatest. That parcel includes three hectares of ungrafted vines - a rarity in any European grape growing region.

Extreme care is taken in the vineyard and all grapes are hand harvested. Fruit is pressed without any skin contact to preserve freshness and fermentation takes place in large, one thousand litre casks in cool cellars beneath the valley where they rest for around six months before bottling. The dry wines are clean and fresh with an unmistakable elegance while the sweeter wines (Spatlese, Auslese and TBA) offer a richness and depth of flavour that make them some of the greatest in Germany.
