Écho de Lynch-Bages is the second wine offering from the prestigious Grand Cru Classé estate of Pauillac, Château Lynch-Bages. The 2010 vintage is expertly crafted from a blend comprising 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot, and 9% Cabernet Franc. Expect classic Pauillac notes of tobacco, tblack fruit, and graphite. The palate mirrors the aromatic profile, delivering a delightful combination of flavours. It possesses an appealingly robust and chewy structure, suggesting that it may be approaching its peak.

The 2010 Echo de Lynch Bages has a very attractive bouquet, a mélange of red and black fruit tinged with damp loam and undergrowth aromas, all well defined and adding welcome floral scents with continued aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannins. Hints of graphite and bell pepper infuse the ample black fruit. There is superb weight and body towards the finish. A classic Claret from start to finish, this is a great wine in the making. I was shocked and pleased when the identity of this wine was revealed (incidentally one that I had not encountered previously.). Tasted blind at Farr Vintners 10-Year On Bordeaux horizontal. Deep garnet colored, the 2010 Echo de Lynch Bages has a nose of baked black cherries, dried mulberries and redcurrant jelly with hints of tobacco leaf, fallen leaves, camphor and potpourri. Medium-bodied, the palate has a racy line and chewy edge, while the fruit is quite subtle, finishing a little short and grippy.Lisa Perrotti-Brown5th March 2020

The Modern Pauillac

Situated in the celebrated Pauillac appellation in Bordeaux, Château Lynch Bages uses around 60% of its 100 hectares to produce its first wine (a 5th growth in the 1855 classification) in addition to producing a second red, Echo de Lynch Bages. These wines display superb Cabernet Sauvignon character, together with smaller percentages of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot making up the blend. A wonderful example of the power and elegance of truly great Pauillac: gloriously supple and smooth with a tannic backbone.

A white wine, known as Blanc de Lynch Bages, is also produced in very small quantities. Made from an elegant blend of the classic white Bordeaux varietals, Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon and Muscadelle, the resulting wines display exhilarating freshness and dried apricot complexity.
