Owned and run by the legendary Lalou Bize-Leroy, Maison Leroy is one strand of the Leroy group, which also includes Domaine Leroy and Domaine d’Auvenay. The négociant business which is based in Auxey-Duresses was originally founded in 1868 by François Leroy, winemaker and owner of vines in prime sites such as Meursault, Pommard, Chambertin, Musigny, Clos Vougeot and Richebourg. This Échezeaux Grand Cru is from the 1969 vintage, a very fine year for Burgundy producing wines with remarkable fruit intensity.

Hand Picked Burgundies

The Leroy name is a key pillar of the Burgundian wine scene and a leading light in the Côte d'Or, with three main strands: Domaine Leroy, Maison Leroy and Domaine d'Auvenay (a small, biodynamically farmed Domaine founded by Lalou in 1988). Maison Leroy was founded by François Leroy as a négociant house in 1868 in the village of Auxey-Duresses and is today headed up by the renowned Lalou Bize-Leroy.

Unlike Domaine Leroy and Domaine d'Auvenay, Maison Leroy represents a portfolio of wines selected by Lalou, but not made by Lalou. Vignerons from across Burgundy will submit their wines for evaluation and, following a blind tasting, Lalou will select just a few to be bottled under the Maison label.
