Louis Jadot Échezeaux 2002 is a full-bodied Burgundy red wine from the Grand Cru of Échezeaux in the Côte de Nuits. Founded in 1859, Louis Jadot, is one of Burgundy’s most respected négociants, and it is also one of the region’s major growers. The maison currently owns 214 hectares of vineyards, including 112 hectares of Cote d’Or’s most prestigious Premier and Grand Cru plots. This release is the 2002 vintage of Jadot’s Échezeaux, a grand cru vineyard covering the slopes above the Clos de Vougeot. The wine is matured for up to 18 months in new oak barrels. "According to winemaker Jacques Lardiere, macerations in 2002 generally lasted 24 to 26 days, compared to 33 to 35 for the robust 1999s. Lardiere described the vintage as a pleasant surprise, in light of the fact that the potential yields were high owing to an absence of problems during the spring. According to Lardiere, "2002 will be a good 20-year vintage, and some will go longer." Vinous
