Jean Grivot Echézeaux 2005 is a full-bodied Burgundy red wine from the Grand Cu climat of Echézeaux in the Vosne-Romanée commune of the Côte de Nuits. Based in Vosne-Romanée, Domaine Jean Grivot is famous for producing deep, aromatic red Burgundy. The family-owned estate is currently run by Jean Grivot`s son Etienne with his wife Marienne, daughter Mathilde and son Hubert. This is the domaine`s Grand Cru Echézeaux from the stellar 2005 vintage. "This concentrated beauty remains very primary with an herbal top note adding lift to the notably ripe and ultra-spicy black fruit and earth suffused aromas. There is seriously good density to the impressively scaled and imposing big-bodied flavours that brim with dry extract on the palate coating, powerful and powerful finish that goes on and on. This is a very structured wine that is clearly built for the very long haul and I wouldn`t recommend touching a bottle for at least another decade. In sum, this offers stunning potential but in a package that is still years away from being ready. Tasted twice in the last few years with pretty consistent results." Burghound, 2015

Deep ruby-red. Knockout brooding nose offers dark fruits, smoke, leather and musky Cuban tobacco. Wonderfully silky and thick on entry, then impressively dense without any heaviness in the middle palate. Hugely concentrated wine with superb sucrosite This spreads out to saturate the entire palate with black raspberry fruit and subtle earth tones. Can't quite match the Suchots for delicacy but this boasts outstanding breadth and class. A great example of Echezeaux.
